He Is Able

Jude 24-25

"Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy, to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen."

God is glorious because He is able where we are unable. We are unable to keep ourselves from stumbling; we are unable to make ourselves stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy. But God is able. And because He is, He will receive all the glory, majesty dominion and authority. We trust and worship a God who is able. Stay strong and God bless!

The Triumphant Christ

Colossians 2:13-15

"When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions, having canceled the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through Him."

Here, Paul explains the method and manner in which He saved us. He saved us by canceling out our debts by dying on the cross and He did so triumphantly. He displays His glory in His complete victory over death and sin. He does not shy away from displaying it. He is victorious, and He will make all the world see His power and glory. Let us proclaim this triumphant Christ!

A Purpose for Everything

Proverbs 16:4

"The LORD has made everything for its own purpose, even the wicked for the day of evil."

How can God in His holiness allow wickedness to exist? How can He let the wicked prosper? Sometimes its hard to believe that there's a glorious purpose to all the evil that exists in this world. At times like these, we must trust in God's Word. God is sovereign over evil. He allowed for sin yet He is still holy. Evil exists to magnify the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. In the end, we will see God's wonderful purpose for evil in the world clearly and will praise Him for His wisdom and power. Let's let our minds chew on this incredible fact. God bless!

Marriage a Picture of Something Glorious

Ephesians 5:32

"This mystery is great; but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church."

The more I consider marriage, the more I am pushed to contemplate the glory of Christ is in His giving of Himself for the redemption of the Church. The Gospel is a mystery. It is a glorious mystery. "This mystery is great." God has given us a picture in marriage so that we may taste and see this wonderful mystery. As Christ loved the Church, the husband loves his wife. As Christ sanctifies the Church with the word, the husband sanctifies his wife with the word. As the Church submits to Christ joyfully and willingly, the wife also submits to her husband joyfully and willingly. As the Church is joined to Christ in perfect union, the wife joins her husband to become one flesh. As the Church cannot be separated from the love of God in Christ Jesus, the husband and wife vow to be bound to one another in godly love until death do them part. Godly marriages point directly to the Gospel. When we see these godly marriages, we must fall in awesome wonder of the glorious mystery that is Grace. Thank God for marriage, a holy and sacred union. It only elevates our understanding of Christ and arouses great passion for His love. God bless!

Born Again Soul Like the Wind

John 3:8

"The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit."

I've heard people conclude from a faulty interpretation of this verse that Christians are to be "free" souls. They are under no constraints and they should live as they please. This verse actually condones no such behavior. Actually, this verse is pointing to the inability of man to cause regeneration. One does not know how or when someone is regenerated. It is the work solely done by God. Though we do not know how or when someone is born again, we are able to tell that someone is born again. The wind does not pass by without leaving a trace or making a sound. Therefore, rather than encouraging us to be "free" souls, this verse is an exhortation to test oneself and see if their of the faith. The secret things belong to the Lord, so let us apply ourselves to what is revealed (Deuteronomy 29:29). God bless!
